Now
I live in San Francisco and work as a recruiter at Harvey, a startup applying language models to the legal profession. I joined as their first recruiter and 12th employee shortly after Series A.
Previously
Prior to Harvey I ran AI Pub, a Twitter account covering AI research topics and a recruiting business for Seed and Series A AI startups. I met Gabe and Winston at Harvey through AI Pub shortly after their Seed round, placed a solid chunk of their founding engineering team, and eventually joined them full-time after Series A.
Prior to AI Pub, I did a year of a stats + ML PhD at the University of Washington in Seattle. I decided it wasn’t the right fit and took a leave of absence to start a small business, which started as “Computer Vision Oasis” and evolved into AI Pub.
I studied math at the University of Chicago and graduated after two years’ study.
Interests
I don’t have much time for hobbies presently, but prior to Harvey I enjoyed rock climbing and understanding analytic and probabilistic number theory.
I see a lot of promise in AI research, early-stage science in longevity, experiments for more effective systems of government, and early-stage science in psychology using meditation techniques from Buddhism.
